The tomb of giants of San Cosimo at Gonnosfanadiga

How many tombs of the giants, domus de janas, nuraghi or sacred wells are there? Establishing this is not difficult… it is impossible; because to the many thousands dating back to the Neolithic, Eneolithic and Bronze Age, new discoveries and findings are being added all the time.

Most of these monuments are barely perceptible because they are still covered by earth and time, or have been reduced to the bare minimum after centuries and centuries of senseless levelling; others are still in an adequate state of preservation, which enhances their grandeur and magnificence.

Massimiliano Piras shows us, in his fine film, one of the most fascinating tombs of the giants on our island: that of San Cosimo at Gonnosfanadiga, which is also close to two other tombs of the same name but in a precarious state of preservation.

The photos of the tomb of giants of San Cosimo are by Romano Stangherlin. The aerial photo is by Bibi Pinna.
