“Within a valley surrounded by dense spontaneous vegetation, it is possible to visit an important and evocative archaeological complex that testifies to phases of life in the territory of Ilbono during the pre-nuragic and nuragic eras. The main nucleus, from a monumental point of view, can be considered the nuraghe ‘Scerì’, perched on a rocky ridge at 134 meters above sea level; it is a complex type nuraghe with a tholos roof, consisting of a main body with a circular plan, rising to a remaining height of about 4.70 meters.”…”Below the nuraghe, hypogeal environments have been identified, simple natural cavities on which the building has been set, and perhaps to be related to some structures present in the area. On the west side of the hill where the nuraghe stands, in fact, two ‘domus de janas’ of the monocellular type have been created, carved into large granite boulders, which testify to the presence of man in the area of ‘Scerì’ since the Neolithic era…” Excerpts taken from the booklet published by the Province of Ogliastra “Siti archeologici d’Ogliastra,” edited by Caterina Nieddu.
