“The nuraghe “Sa domu beccia” of Uras, located about 800 meters from the inhabited center, is a majestic complex made of basalt rock consisting of seven towers connected by a bastion. From the central tower or keep, three flights of stairs lead to the unfortunately lost upper levels. The splendid fortress is surrounded by a towered curtain wall inside which some huts have been identified. The dating of the complex is between the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age, between 1150 and 750 B.C.” (from the Mibact site)
In the inner courtyard, there is also an extraordinary well, functional for water supply, masterfully lined with stone elements. It is interesting to observe how the significant number of nuraghi present in the surrounding area suggests the strategic and commercial importance of the territory, also considering the presence of watercourses flowing into the ponds of S. Giovanni and Marceddì, which in turn are connected to the Gulf of Oristano.
