Among the various theories on the function of nuraghi, it is presumable that, in addition to other tasks, they performed above all that of garrisoning and controlling the territory and coastline. In confirmation of this, it is sufficient to observe their concentration in correspondence with coastal moorings and waterways that, in the Nuragic period, are supposed to have had sufficient water flow to allow the passage of boats or, at least, barges. On these vessels, minerals, metals, agricultural products and other goods could be loaded and transported to the coast for storage and/or subsequent embarkation.
