63.2 and 65.2: The nuraghe Banzos in Santu Lussurgiu is truly an example of a surprising nuraghe. You don’t expect it. When you see it from behind, seemingly small and not very well preserved in height, you would never expect this monumental entrance with expertly crafted stones; you wouldn’t expect the wonderful entrance corridor with stones worked and stacked in such a perfect way that they form a straight line (SardegnaSacra.it). The nuraghe Piricu is located in the municipality of Santu Lussurgiu, at the border with the territories of Paulilatino and Bonarcado. The monument is bordered by two streams: to the east by the rio Tzispiri and to the west by the rio Baracontu or Enacontu. It is a complex nuraghe, formed by a central tower (mastio), which is preserved to a height of 12 meters with the tholos intact, and by remains, some not very evident, of four other towers. (La bocca del vulcano. it) The photos of the nuraghe Banzos are by Pietrino Mele and Alessandro Pilia. Those of the nuraghe Piricu are by Sergio Melis, Giovanni Sotgiu, Gianni Sirigu, and Andrea Mura-Nuragando Sardegna.
