The Tomb of the Giants of Imbertighe in Borore

The giants’ tomb of Imbertighe is located just outside the village of Borore.
The scholars who surveyed it between the 19th and early 20th century saw it almost intact and described its long tomb body with burial chamber and large exedra.

Today, the exedra retains only the wings made of basalt blocks, while nothing remains of the burial chamber. However, the monument retains its charm thanks to the beautiful centred stele, which is striking for its careful workmanship.
The monolithic stele is 3.65 m high, almost elliptical in shape, with the typical flat relief frame that is interrupted at the bottom, merging with the base of the monolith.
The elevation is divided into three parts: the base, smooth and thicker, which preserves the quadrangular hatch with rounded upper corners in the centre; the trapezoidal middle frame; and the upper lunette, separated by the transverse lath.

About 200 metres east of the tomb is the nuraghe of the same name, of which only a few rows of blocks remain.
From S.P. 66 at the entrance to Borore, turn right towards Sedilo; after passing the railway overpass, turn right where indicated by the tourist sign. Follow the indicated road that leads to the tomb.
