Faced with the grandeur of the Eneolithic temple at ‘Ziqqurat’ in Monte D’Accoddi (Sassari), the monumentality of the protonuraghi and, as we shall see below, the tombs of giants, we would expect similar examples from the sacred architecture of the Middle Bronze Age.
Certainly, archaeological research has yet to meet these expectations, because to date only one aerial temple has been ascribed to the Middle Bronze Age: the apsidal building ‘in antis’ of Malchittu, located in the countryside of Arzachena, not far from the Albucciu nuraghe.
