The nuraghe Sa Domu ‘e s’Orcu at Sarroch

“The nuraghe Sa Domu ‘e Sorcu (Sarroch), rises on a slight hill a short distance from the sea, in the western part of the Gulf of Cagliari, less than one km east of the town of Sarroch, in visual connection with the nuraghi of Santa Vittoria, Motti, Pruna ‘e Cristi and, 2 km further north, with the fortified citadel of Antigori.

The first excavation work was carried out in 1924 by A. Taramelli: once the collapses had been eliminated, a large trench, still visible today, was made to reach the entrance and the inner rooms were freed. In 1978, during restoration work, M.L. Ferrarese Ceruti carried out excavation tests in the courtyard. In 2008, a new restoration restored safe use of the site for visitors.” (Text edited by Michela Migaleddu, taken from the series “I tesori dell’archeologia”- Carlo Delfino editore -2011)
