The nuraghe Ruju in Chiaramonti

The ““Ruju” it is certainly the most well-known nuraghe in the territory of Chiaramonti. The imposing monotorre features the characteristic truncated-conical shape and is built at the base with large boulders, which decrease in size as the construction rises.

The entrance leads into the central chamber, characterized by the presence of three lateral cells and by projecting rows that close in a dome. A spiral staircase leads to the upper floor where the elevation of the second chamber is still evident.

Built with well-squared stones in Trachyte is easily visible along the S.S. 672 road that connects Sassari to Tempio. (from the Ministry of Culture – Idese)
