The Aeddos Nuraghe is located at the Sa Serra plateau, in the territory of Orotelli, within the municipal park. Made of large boulders of local granite, it is a complex structure with a central tower (keep) and three other secondary ones arranged around it.
Access to the central tower, with a circular plan, is through a trapezoidal-shaped entrance with a large, slightly arched lintel (the large horizontal stone that, together with the other two vertical blocks, forms the entrance), followed by a corridor; two other corridors branch off towards the side towers, while there is also a 24-step staircase and a niche. Other niches are present inside the donjon, associated with a central hearth set up in ancient times near an outcrop of natural rock, with granite stones arranged in a circle. Several phases of frequentation have been documented here, ranging from the Bronze Age with continuity to the Iron Age.
Other corridors and staircases connected the secondary towers and allowed access to the upper floors where a sort of patrol walkway was also identified that ran along the entire straight part of the bastion, which is no longer visible today due to the collapse.
It was not possible to identify remains of huts that must have constituted the village surrounding the nuraghe, so it was assumed that the nearby village of Ovorei, which can be placed in the same chronological phases, could be associated with it.The site is easily reached from the centre of Orotelli, following the signs for the park in the locality of Sa Serra (SS537 towards Via Santa Croce); after about 3 km, take the SS129 Trasversale Sarda and after about 1 km, turn right. Continue straight on for just under 2 km, until you reach the locality of Sa Serra and continue here for about 3 km. At this point, you will find yourself in front of the nuraghe.
