79.2, 79a.2 and 79b.2: Nuraghi Benas, Pidighi and Muru Accas – Solarussa

79.2, 79a.2 and 79b.2: The nuraghe Benas is located on a small hill in the area of “Tanca sa cresia” northwest of the nuraghe Jana, in the territory of Solarussa, 200 meters from the border with Zerfaliu. It is a complex nuraghe, with a courtyard and three secondary towers. Particularly interesting is the main tower, which retains the intact tholos covering of the ground floor. Inside there are three niches, and a curious staircase on the right side of the entrance corridor. (Zerfaliu. Altervista.org)

The main core of the archaeological complex of Pidighi is located within the homonymous Municipal Park of the municipality of Solarussa. It consists of two nuraghi (Pidighi and Muru Accas) with their respective settlements and water supply sources. To the northeast of the railway line, there are three minor nuraghi. The nuraghi Pidighi and Muru Accas, not yet excavated, are very similar monuments although in different states of preservation. Both are formed by a truncated-conical main tower and an added body with protruding edges at right angles, containing an open courtyard and a secondary tower. Inside the main tower and the secondary tower, there are two circular chambers covered with dome vaults, which today are partially collapsed. In the main tower of the nuraghe Pidighi, one can also observe the staircase, which spirals up from the base to the top where the upper chamber was located, now entirely missing.
