58a.2 and 58b.2: The territory of Sedilo is rich in prehistoric evidence, with various nuraghi located near the Tirso River. This circumstance is commonly repeated in many other regional contexts and supports the hypothesis that the nuraghi served multiple functions, including the control of territories, particularly those favored by the presence of waterways. The “Lighei,” in Sedilo, is a nuraghe built with basalt blocks approximately 9 m high. The access corridor to the circular chamber, which features three niches and an intact tholos, is about 5 m long and includes a niche and a stone staircase for the upper floor. Nearby, the remains of a giant’s tomb can be found. The nuraghe “Serra,” also in the territory of Sedilo, is a single-tower structure in excellent condition with an intact tholos. Around it, traces of other residential settlements from the period can be seen. The photos of the nuraghe Lighei are by Andrea Mura-Nuragando Sardegna (who is also responsible for the aerial photo of the namesake giant’s tomb), Gianni Sirigu, and Romano Stangherlin; those of the nuraghe Serra are by Sergio Melis, Romano Stangherlin, and Marco Cocco.
