4a: Nuragic complex of Sant’Imbenia – Alghero

4a: The nuragic complex of Sant’Imbenia, in Alghero, consists of a nuraghe and a village of huts. The nuraghe is made up of a central tower surrounded by a bastion with a straight-convex-curvilinear profile that includes two smaller towers to the ENE and SSE. The village, dating back to the early Iron Age, is developed to the N/W of the nuraghe. The houses, which are sub-circular and sub-rectangular in shape, are arranged in “blocks” with multiple rooms that generally connect to a central courtyard. The photos of the nuragic complex of Sant’Imbenia, in Alghero, are by Romano Stangherlin.
